CAMP: November Thanksgiving Recess
The "International Thanksgiving Traditions Camp" is designed to immerse kids in the diverse ways cultures around the world celebrate gratitude, harvest, and community. This camp offers a unique blend of cultural education, hands-on art and craft activities, and skill development, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of global traditions.
What to Expect:
- Daily Cultural Exploration: Each day, the camp will focus on a different country or culture, exploring its unique harvest festival or gratitude tradition. Campers will learn through storytelling, videos, and interactive presentations.
- Cultural Crafts and Art Activities: Kids will create crafts inspired by the daily cultural theme, such as Diwali lanterns from India, corn husk dolls from Native American traditions, or mooncakes from China's Mid-Autumn Festival.
- Teamwork and Collaboration: Many of the activities, such as group projects or creative design builds, require teamwork, helping kids to improve their social skills and learn to work effectively with others.
- Global Perspective: The camp encourages children to think beyond their own cultural experiences and understand the global context of Thanksgiving and similar celebrations.
- Historical Insight: Children will gain historical knowledge about the origins of various harvest festivals and their evolution over time, linking past traditions to contemporary practices.
Materials Provided: All necessary art supplies will be provided, including paints, brushes, paper, glue, scissors, clay, and natural materials. Kids are encouraged to bring their creativity and a love for nature!
