8 WEEKS

Unleash your child's inner innovator with our Bright Ideas course!

Is your child curious, creative, and eager to make a difference? Our 8-week Bright Ideas class invites young minds to explore the exciting world of User Experience (UX) design, where they'll learn to identify a problem, find a solution users love, and share their bright idea with others! Your instructor, a former Design Manager at Google with an MS in Human–Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon University, will mentor your child and send weekly progress updates.

Through hands-on activities, games, and real-world examples, kids will:

  • Build empathy by stepping into the shoes of users

  • Think critically and become problem- solving superstars

  • Appreciate diverse perspectives through teamwork

  • Think like designers and understand the design process

What Is User Experience (UX) Design?

Imagine you're using an app on your phone. Is it easy to find what you need? Do you enjoy using it? Or does it feel confusing and frustrating? That's where User Experience (UX) design comes in! UX designers are like architects of how you feel when you use something. They make sure things like websites, apps, even everyday objects and experiences are easy, enjoyable, and helpful to use.

Here is a preview of what your child may learn each week:

  • Week 1: Discover what UX design is and choose a project theme as a class.

  • Week 2: Learn how to interview people and understand their needs.

  • Week 3: Get a chance to put their skills to the test by conducting real user interviews and working with their team to map out your findings.

  • Week 4: Analyze the feedback they gathered and identify key themes.

  • Week 5: Brainstorm creative solutions individually and as a group, and sketch out new ideas.

  • Week 6: Learn to create visual representations of their bright ideas (paper wireframes, which is a technique used by designers in industry).

  • Week 7: Refine their prototypes as a team and gather feedback.

  • Week 8: Share their amazing project/solution with friends and family!

Please note that Sparkologie is radically student-centered. We will send weekly updates and make modifications to the curriculum based on students’ collective needs.
